COP animation: Research and storyboard

The topic of my essay is the representation of females in anime. I have had a big influence from Japanese anime since I was small. Hong Kong is a close city to Japan therefore we are always introduced with Japanese culture and the goodness of its products. The 'looks' of anime girls has evolved dramatically from pure, traditional 'YAMATO NADESHIKO' (meaning the "personification of an idealised Japanese woman" or "the epitome of pure, feminine beauty") to 'MOE' (meaning a feelings of strong affection towards the characters especially leading to sexual feelings and desires). Moe could be easily seen as lots of beautiful girls and boobs which feelings of pure affection that gradually become stronger over time can be the feelings of erotism. Firms and companies seize this trend and continuously designing female characters that perfectly shaped under male gaze which has an immense effect on the stereotype of Japanese anime and female.

In the animation, I want to introduce a female character with the most innocent personality almost like the classic Disney princess who has the style of Tezuka Osamu's Princess Knight aesthetic which is discussed in my essay. Forced to change by an unknown dark matters into Sailor moon-like magical hero. She tried to fight back but the force is too strong to be resisted. Eventually she turns into a sexy-looking school girl who is posing erotically. She is frustrated and annoyed by the changing of appearance reflecting the fact that women in Japan still do not have a voice to change the society.
